The station is modern and seems newly built/renovated. Friendly check in/check bag staff members. Fast service and no hassle boarding process. There are some vending machines and coffee machine. Restroom was clean and well maintained. They also provided a rack full of tourism information and brochures for Charleston and surrounding areas.
Nice new building, easy in and out of the station. This was my first Amtrack trip and it wasn't too bad. There is a lot more room on the trains then there is on planes and no security checks.
Very clean, well lit, nice history museum inside. Security on site. Convenience food available in machines. Very clean restrooms. Newly built in 2019.
Charleston Amtrak train station is a very new station with modern decoration. Compare with another train station, this is one of the convention station. There are vending machine that you can get hot food, soft drink, and hot drink. Staffs also nice and informative.
“Security guard” told my friends and I we couldn’t be on the platform to see the Palmetto at the station. Never in 22 years have I had this issue with this station. We were not causing any issues on the platform and was not interfering with Amtrak
It is one of the historical places in S.C. There is alot of Black History in this city
Ok. So this train station is small. It's nice and clean, and looks new. And there are seats. There is nothing inherently wrong with it. But I wish it were closer to actual Charleston (not North Charleston). Also, for a city as amazing and historic as Charleston, you'd think there would be a more centralized and interesting train station. This one feels more like a bus terminal. And there isn't really anything at the station itself to do, especially if your train is late at night. So if you're trying to get to actual Charleston, be sure to budget time and fork up some money for a cab or rideshare because it's a hike.
I have both been to the old station and the new station in Charleston S.C. I LOVED the old station because it really gave me the feel that I was at a historical true American train station. It had the same things as the new one. Vending Machines, restrooms baggage seats, etc. But now there is a new station, which is nice but Amtrak really needs to make ALL of the trains that go through Charleston longer or something. I recently went to NYC on Amtrak and the train was PACKED. We thought we could snag a row with four seats facing each other because I was traveling with 2 other people. But we couldn’t find any. There were no window seats left on the train that had a whole row going three across. So we were stuck with a windowless seat until Florence. Amtrak isn’t perfect and that’s why I love it. The people who ride it are nice too. I recommend Amtrak to anyone. But don’t be surprised if your train is late. Or if the train is overcrowded.
The guy at the ticket office was there for pay. The security guard was so over weight he had trouble just getting out of his chair to get something to eat.
Beautiful new building and location. Parking lot is well lit and the inside of the building is clean and also well lit with phone chargers built in to the tables connected to the chairs. The train platform and outside waiting area is clean and well-maintained. Such a great upgrade from the former circa 1950's green building with rooms for segregation. So glad they finally upgraded. Now it looks much more welcoming to travelers!
